Amoudara has one main street where all the shops and...
Amoudara has one main street where all the shops and restaurants are and that's pretty much it. You take any side streets and you'll end up in one of the neighboring settlements. The place feels neglected and doesn't look pretty. From half-finished, deserted buildings with lots of junk nearby, to overgrown shrubs and trees, which you have to avoid by ducking or walking into the street sometimes, which doesn't make it very safe. There's also a power plant nearby which really takes away from the overall impression. During the first couple of days of my stay, there was some unpleasant smell in the air, not sure if it was the power plant or some other reason, but it was really awful. The beach is great as long as it's not windy but, unfortunately, it usually is.

Enorme Teatro Beach exceeded my expectations! Our fiance and I went there to exchange our vows on the beach. It was our first time in Crete... From the very first day of the online booking till the very last day at the hotel the staff were always helpful, making sure we had everything we need (taxis, dinner, photographer, answering our questions...). The swim-up option in our room was beyond what I imagined. Also he food is quite exceptional!! A really nice cosy hotel - Some small things have space for improvement, but maybe this makes exactly the atmosphere. The breakfast buffet is extraordinary ! But the biggest asset of this hotel, is the team - and I mean the whole team including the lady taking care about cleaning ! Location of the hotel is perfect if you have a car, not in the crowded city center, just 10mins driving when you need to. Facility is clean, has a nice pool and beach. They welcomed us with a nice cold glass of handmade lemonade. They offer free sunbeds and beach towels. For breakfast, you are free to choose anything you want in the menu, which was tasty, also they have nice coffee and freshly squeezed juice options included. Beds were comfy and rooms has large balconies with nice views.

Breakfast perfect. I really recommande to tast the restaurant for lunch or dinner with this amazing view front of the beach. Special thanks for Paris and the white sangria ;) The bus station is near you can take the bus to go to Heraklion city center. There is a lot of shops and tourist office to book excursions. Will come back for suuuuurre!!😉👌

We had cold water in the fridge when we arrived and also cofee capsules which was really nice. Good AC, clean room, confortable bed, we had a great time here. Also good to mention that the location is really close to the beach, to the bus station to Heraklion and also a lot of grocery marketsin the area. It is next to the beach (I could hear the ocean from my balcony) and a bus stop which makes access to Heraklion extremely convenient. The room I booked was comfortable, clean, and had plenty of storage. I was supposed to stay for 5 nights and would have been happy to do so, but was offered a complimentary upgrade to the nearby Hotel Malena (part of Omilos Hotels).

We were greeted with a fridge full of food and drinks. The apartment is clean, spacious, with two terraces, and has everything needed for a pleasant vacation. We had the privilege of staying at the 4 star Magda Hotel in Kato Gouves before ending our stay here. Unfortunately the CHC Marilena Hotel is more a 3 star. The family room we had was big with two separate rooms, this was nice. The table tennis bats were terrible and it wouldn't cost much to get some new ones.

There are local restaurants and coffee places across the road which were really a great surprise. We took the bus which was literally outside the hotel to town and it was a easy and quick trip.
