Located at the heart of the old town of Cherbourg, with a view across the port, Logis la Regence offers comfortable accommodation for visitors to the Cotentin region.
Excellent choice, everything fresh and well presented.
I love visiting this town. Walks around the town centre for markets shops etc. Then a short trip oiyt past the Naval bas to the beach and the long coastal walks. I love the history, the old forts the magnificent Norman ability to build with stone.
A drive to Barfleur for lunch of musseld and chips was another bonus. A lovely fishing port town off the beaten way with a choice of eateries all good.
Exploring the small restaurants in te smaller villages and town is always rewarding . Remember the French rise early and lunch ends at 2 p.m.
Skip breakfast and enjoy a leisurly early lunch instead!

We visited Cherbourg over Easter.
We visited Cherbourg over Easter. The town was buzzing on Easter Saturday with the food market and people out having drinks...very nice. Unfortunately in the evening there seemed to be a lack of restaurants open with the exception of a few high end places. We ate in the casino & also at our hotel, the Mecure. It's a nice place and a good location to see any D Day beaches/museums. You will need a car.

A really interesting town, great art gallery, and lots of places to visit around the town. It would have been good to stay longer but the weather was pretty bad so two nights were enough.
The extensive road works around the harbour totally confused our satnav and the temporary one way systems were pretty difficult to negotiate.
Loads of choice of restaurants all prices.

We have friends in Cherbourg and will continue to visit.
We have friends in Cherbourg and will continue to visit. But for British visitors, the strange pattern of Brittany Ferries' service from Portsmouth or Poole is a great deterrent for a visit to the Cotentin! Extraordinarily, the service from Portsmouth is one day per week - so you either stay for three hours to return on the same ship, or you stay for one week, or you have a long drive to and/or from Ouistreham.
The only advantage of this, from our point of view, is that it tends to keep some visitors away from the calm and peace of the Cotentin peninsular. We enjoy the lack of crowds - Maybe the Cotentin is a secret worth keeping!

Despite Major road works in progress Cherburg, getting around by car is quite easy. Walking around the town is a pleasurable experience and the harbour walks are must at sunset. Nightlife makes the narrow streets very congested at times and the noise level can disturb your sleep if your hotel is in the main socialising street areas.

Unless you have to visit Cherbourg don’t visit and stay at the moment as they are undergoing a massive refurb and building work is EVERYWHERE and nearly all roads are closed. I will visit again though as people are so lovely. But probably not until 2025.

great location, friendly staff. Was good for us as a family as had interconnected rooms.
Good breakfast in morning for money - kids are for free.
we stayed only one night as used it as a base for the ferry, but the town seems lovely and lively. good dinner options, lovely marina and if we’d been there earlier we would have gone on the big wheel. it was busy when we arrived (for food in the town), so we ate in the Thai restaurant which was fab.
there is a bar in hotel for a night cap too.
So I have stayed in 2018 next door at the Ibis hotel. I wanted the same hotel as I had before but I made the mistake of booking the Ibis Budget hotel next door. I was here doing research for a book I am writing on the German defenses of the second world war in the Cherbourg area as I was in 2018 and needed to take more photographs so the location was ideal. The staff were fantastic. Everyone was very kind and accommodating for the most part.
Friendly hotel staff with easily accessible free and stress-free parking adjacent to the hotel: Ideal for onward travel. Self-service breakfast 'hit the spot' and the rooms were quiet, comfortable, well furnished and clean. Good location for getting some fresh air along the harbour wall and only a short walk to the town centre.
An affordable hotel near to Cherbourg train station, with a definite vintage air: it felt like a railway hotel from a mid-century period piece. Rooms clean albeit minimal - bed, small coffee table, chair, TV, no real wardrobe - shower with good water pressure. Windows not overlooked.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Ambassadeur Hotel.
- Its location was very central
- The room was very clean and comfortable
- The shower was really clean and very powerful
- The breakfast was very good quality and varied
- The wifi was strong
- The price was very reasonable
Welcoming staff & good English spoken (a lot better than my French!). Room & bathroom small but clean & tidy. Plenty of private parking right outside hotel. Good facilities, location & value for money. Ferry port only 15 minutes away. Would definitely stay again 👍🏻
A very decent small hotel in central Cherbourg – close to the restaurants and bars in the town centre, and a 5-10-minute drive to the ferry terminal. It's not luxurious but it's very clean, well maintained and excellent value. We'd stay here again.
easy to find, secure parking, friendly helpful staff, secure rooms, clean, more of a hostel than hotel, but absolutely perfect for what we wanted, a little kitchenette with the essentials large living/sleeping area, enough storage, very affordable
Ideal location for arriving on a late ferry. Only a couple of minutes drive from the port and with safe parking. Fairly new hotel so everything was very clean and modern. Bed was very comfortable and great choice at breakfast.
Absolutely fantastic hotel with plenty of amenities, fantastic value for money. The hotel is in a prime location in the port and makes it ideal for catching the ferry. Absolutely great hotel
The breakfast was good. The location was just great within five to ten minutes of the center of Cherbourg and the main shopping area. Eating out was good and the horse meat was tasty.
Very clean and well taken care of apartment. The place is airy, full of light and well decorated. The kitchen is well equipped. It is my favorite spot to stay in Cherbourg.
Location great for exploring Cherbourg and surrounding areas. Apartment well appointed and very comfortable. Parking outside the apartment wasn’t a problem.
