My wife and I stayed at this family-run hotel for two nights (Friday and Saturday nights). We enjoyed a very generous and tasty breakfast. All the staff we met, on Reception and in the Restaurant, were very friendly. Despite the fact that the hotel is located in the centre of the town and that music is played in the ground floor bar till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights our room was very quiet. The free Wi-Fi worked very well.
South Woodham Ferrers is very well placed to explore the countryside, the City of Southend-on-Sea and towns and villages nearby.

I visited as I was visiting family - Woodham Ferrers has lots of facilities - such as park (for walking the dog) -Manor farm for children's activities (brilliant - mainly all outside); leisure centre with swimming pool (not particularly big) and a very compact but with variety shopping centre.
This is a family area and does not support luxury/designer shops
Woodham Ferrers has good access to major road links and a train station to London.
The Indian restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers was excellent and very good value for money

I visited on a whim, just to get out of London.
I visited on a whim, just to get out of London. Compared to other places I've visited in the country this year, this has to be the best in lacking any soul and social interaction. As I was walking and no signs were present on the main roads, why do you need to follow the bike routes to get to the railway station? Why didn't anyone know where the station was? Also, there are some old radar stations on the hill. Yet again no signs as to how to get there and once there, no history about the place. This also was the case along the river. No signs. If there's anyone who comes out with flying colour during the trip, the prize goes to the the bus drivers of Essex. These were the only people who could put a sentence together.

I only used the hotel as a stop off point for a trip to Colchester but I thought Woodham Ferrers was a nice little town. The hotel was in a very central convenient location. It had all I wanted. I ate in the green king pub next to Asda. Was lovely, noisy but it was Saturday night so that’s standard.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good as there were shops nearby such as Asda which was useful for me as i had forgotten to pack a couple of things.
We had been out all day and when we returned to the hotel around 10.15pm a band were playing, the atmosphere was great so we stayed and enjoyed every moment.
Breakfast was good in the morning with lots of choice.
Adequate facilities. No food served on premises the evening of my arrival but The Oaklands was happy for food to be brought in and would even supply plate and cutlery if requested. I enjoyed a good Chinese takeaway purchsed 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
Was able to park at the back of the hotel off road.
Plenty of tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Spacious room with a very comfy bed and just perfect soft, fresh to touch pillows. Great selection of biscuits to go with my evening cuppa was a bonus. Loved to have a bath in a hotel which is rare. Great value for money. Personalised cooked breakfast means I ate what I actually like and the quantity kept me full for a long time, it was tasty too.
Excellent value for money and great freshly cooked breakfast - the hotel has live music on Saturday nights but it stopped after midnight and on 2nd floor it wasn't a problem. A lift would have been good but kind reception staff took my case up. Recommended if you need a place to stay near Maldon, or on the way to Southend
good location to go visit RHS Gardens, Hanningfield Reservoir, surrounded by choices of restaurants and The Hotel kindly offers to provide plates and cutlery if you choose to bring back a Take away👌👍
Grea hot and cold breakfast served by nice staff.
Requested a room away from noise and was happy in the room at far end.
I liked the cleanliness, the comfy bed, breakfast was amazing,...and the fire doors all shut soooo quietly....😊. So compared to a lots of other hotels it was quiet ! Central location. Short walk to several different cuisines. Nice staff... Loved it.
Great place, at first it doesn't look much but it's a lovely stay. Free parking nearby. Plenty of dining options within yards. The bar is really friendly and has Sports TV on a number of screens.
Lovely well cooked breakfast,
Enjoyed my stay 👍
The breakfast was good and the staff were pleasant. It is a budget hotel so we weren't expecting any frills, but there were tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We were able to have a fan for the room as the weather was exceptionally hot.
Clean & comfortable for a budget hotel. I just wanted somewhere cheap to sleep to visit family & go to Hyde Hall.
Moved car to a free car park very near hotel.
Decided not to stay for breakfast so can't comment.
The location is good. Many restaurants nearby as well as an ASDA, The shopping center is quite attractive. The hotel offers a good breakfast and the bar is pleasant. Modern TV in the room
Clean and tidy rooms and good free internet
Second room had a problem during stay with toilet but staff soon fixed it
Staff very friendly and helpful
Good two star hotel & value for money.
