Really helpful and friendly staff. Even the staff that were new were honest about what they didn't know and proactive in finding out and being as helpful as possible. We stayed here when walking the Pennine Way and it was exactly what we needed. Granted there aren't really any other options in the area(!) but I would go back anyway. Being in such a remote location, it must be tricky to cater to all the different types of guests that they get but they're doing a great job. A very 'pubby pub' with a real fire and good beers, very suitable for dogs and walkers. Also, a more restauranty area with very good food. The breakfast was lovely too. If you're staying in the glamping pod, I would recommend taking flip flops or other slip-on shoes just to get to the bathroom though! We didn't think of that and only had walking boots which was a bit of a faff.

This is our go to Dales hotel - we've stayed here on numerous occasions and rarely been disappointed. The breakfast is second to none and the evening meals are really good (if quite pricey). But its quality and a proper Yorkshire pub. The bedrooms are really nicely decorated and comfortable.

We were upgraded to a bigger room; great position; helpful staff, although had to advise on how to chill wine (you need iced water, not just ice). Dinner was quite good; breakfast was very good.

Super comfy beds and excellent breakfast. Beautiful location just across the road from the church.
The staff were very helpful and explained they were aware of issues but they had only been running the place sonce last Noevmber and were working through sorting everything out.

The cottage very comfortable and clean. The host was great and very helpful regarding information about the area. We have stayed here in the past. This visit did not disappoint. There is not fridge in the room so the host permitted me to store my meds in her fridge, which was extremely kind of her. As for breakfast, it was very delicious. I highly recommend a stay.

You couldn't beat the location of Tan Hill, right on the Pennine Way with stunning views and the most wonderful warm hospitality. Dog friendly and dogs are treated as kindly as their owners - they just loved them. Dog bed, dog bowl, poo bag and bag of dog biscuits waiting for her in our spotless room with a huge bed with crisp white sheets - it was just perfect and stress free, so relaxing and we slept well with our bellies full of a glorious Sunday roast after a short walk and some star gazing, it was awesome!!

Tan Hill Inn is a few miles out of Richmond.
Tan Hill Inn is a few miles out of Richmond. It is in a remote area surrounded by fells and beautiful countryside, alongside the Pennine Way. The area is ideal for cycling and walking; but we were with friends who are not able to walk far and we went for the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and the very special atmosphere of the Tan Hill Inn. Richmond itself is a small market town which is very attractive and is a pleasant place to spend a few hours exploring the riverside and the castle.

The cottage was beautiful and the views from the back were amazing. It was so peaceful and gave you space and time to think. We watched the Pheasants and the rabbits in the field out back often which just relaxed you. There are plenty of DVDs and I mean PLENTY with upto date ones as well so don't worry about having something to do on an evening. We wanted to stay longer!

I liked the independent shops and cafes and the space to walk around. Parking was relatively easy although you had to use the RingGo app to pay. I would go back to do the 'historical' things which I didn't have time for on the day
