We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre.
We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre. Did go into Paignton. Quite busy on the seafront. The pier is mainly a big arcade. We couldn't access to the end of the pier when we went . Didn't go into the shopping centre.
We did get a Chinese take away from Rickshaw Boy and ate it in the car overlooking the sea ( made a change to fish and chips) We spent the day at the Zoo which was well worth it. Saw baby orangutan amongst other animals.
We went to Totnes which is a quirky place full of boutique shops, cafes and had a lovely feel about it.

Paignton has a lovely long beach and is very safe for families ,but the tide comes up to the promenade in places, it is easy to get onto the beach, not completely sandy but still able to make sandcastles. there is lots of activities too crazy golf, kids rollercoaster etc. we ate at the hotel but there are a lot of restuarants to choose from. an awful lot of amusement arcades there. it is flat to walk around, but not too many shops around

The pier and the harbour was great, the side streets with arcades and gift shops and town looked run down and dirty nothing like it used to look years ago.
Paignton has changed so much and not for the better.

Paignton is your typical bucket and spade family holiday with amusement arcades and lots of places to eat. Wonderful beach and promenade with pier. There are many other small beaches within walking distance along the coast path including goodrington sands.
Excellent transport links for trips to Brixham and Torquay plus the famous zoo.

Paignton has a long flat beach, with plenty of gardens and a long promenade. There’s plenty of parking,(to pay)a good range of easily accessible shops from the front, and a local cinema there. The bus and train stations are very handy, and I can throughly recommend the buses, which run every 10 minutes, and gave me free access to Brixham and Torquay.A much easier option than worrying about going in the car,and the difficulties involved in finding a parking space.

Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell...
Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell (too cold to partake) and a very pleasant esplanade. Main street has too many casiono/slot machines for our taste but also plenty of bars and cafes. Henry's Bar seemed the best with more real ales than the others.
Paignton bus station is a hub for transport to neighbouring towns, such as Totnes and Brixham, and including Exeter and Plymouth further afield. Also a regular train service to Exeter and beyond (Teignmouth and Dawlish especially). Steam trains to KIngswear for Dartmouth on selected days (Note: buy a return ticket even if you plan to only go one way by train as it covers the ferry crossing both ways). Great fish restaurants in Brixham by the harbour.
They were having a soft opening so got a great deal and was so well looked after. The staff were really lovely and so helpful. They were having a few teething issues with systems and the like but it didn't matter. They were charming and really went the extra mile. The hotel itself is lovely and so far removed from what I'm used to having to stay in when visiting family in Paignton. I'm so glad the Mercure has arrived!!! At last, somewhere decent to stay. :-)
Pauline & Phil are lovely hosts and went out of the way to make sure I could arrive and park up early. Also let me put my luggage etc. in the room. I was visiting to celebrate a family birthday and needed to be earlier than checking in time. The rooms were immaculate the breakfast excellent and their cordaility was really good.
The views are outstanding and only a short walk to Paignton town. All in all a brief but excellent experience.
Nothing. The place was not as described. We had to leave and find somewhere else to stay. (The Queens Hotel, Paignton as it happens, which was fine).
I am not particularly fussy when it comes to hotels, but The Parkers Arms was by far the worst place I've seen. I've been regularly booking hotels with Booking.com for around 15 years, and never left a bad review until now.
I'm amazed Booking.com allow them on the platform TBH.
Great location on Paignton seafront & friendly staff. Sitting rooms with sea views and comfy lounge for evening entertainment.
Our twin room was ample size, en-suite plus garden views.
Great breakfasts had lots of choice, table service with a smile, nice Garden views and partial sea views were a pleasant bonus. & no washing up!
FREE Car Park at front of hotel plus few more spaces and coach parking off street.
Room was clean and comfortable and made up everyday. Right on beach with magnificent sea views. Short walk to sea front and Paignton harbour. Ideal location for exploring Devon.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was continental style, and also a cooked menu.
There was a bar menu and also a restaurant.
Good choice of breakfast, the room was small but I went for the cheapest option and the bed was very comfy, the hotel is in a good location although not on the seafront. It is an easy walk from the station and not far from the harbour and beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Location is a few hundred yards from the seafront promenade and paignton's main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel offers breakfast in the price and was a fabulous full english or of your own menu desire. The hotel was very clean throughout. Good value for money.
An amazing and luxurious holiday home! David was most accommodating and friendly, it was a pleasure chatting to him and you could tell he really wanted us to enjoy our stay. It was far better value than most hotel options I check out in the area, and the hot tub was a real treat!
Great hotel, we needed somewhere for a one night stay on a budget, far exceeded what we paid, clean, tidy, friendly.
Rooms were warm, water hot, signs of recent refurbishments well done, definately will be back when working in the area later this year.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our room was cozy with a lovely comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and attentive. Entertainment was provided. The grounds were kept nice and we were able to sit outside and relax. The breakfast was good.
Staff were wonderful, dinner was very good, breakfast could have been better.
Payed extra for a larger room, but we would not say that it was very big.
Very good night time entertainment.
Hotel very well decorated and clean.
Disappointed with breakfast as I like lots of fresh fruit and this was very limited. Also the decaffeinated coffee had completely run out which was very disappointing and very poor for such a big hotel.
The owners were great. Very attentive, helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection and variety was extensive. The location was convenient for the station, seafront and local amenities.
The bed was so comfortable. The proprietor was such a sweet kind lady and so informative. Nice friendly run Hotel and very conveniently situated to Paignton and the train station.
.
Amazing location, clean room, comfortable bed. I forgot a bath gown , dropped a line to the reception and the hotel team kindly posted it back to me. Worth complimenting indeed!
Our room was spotlessly clean as was all the Hotel. The breakfast was delicious 😋. The hosts could not do enough for us. We will definitely stay here again
