    An amazing, beautiful old town.

An amazing, beautiful old town. Full of history and lots to do. Wonderful shops, great dining and cafes. Beautiful gardens to visit and the lake is fantastic for a morning or afternoon walk. Many gorgeous hotels.

    Ballarat is terrific.

Ballarat is terrific. Full of history, culture and shopping. Lake Wendouree and the Botanic gardens are always a delight. Lunch at Craigs Hotel Atrium was very special and a good price. The Gallery always has something new to see as the exhibits change often. Eureka Stockade museum is a really good exhibition and tells the story of the Rebellion. The King Bakery on Sturt street has THE BEST vanilla slices and meat pies. Yellow Espresso next door does a great coffee too. Op shops are well situated. Messer & Opie is a really nice Men's & Women's clothing shop in the Bridge street Mall. Although Ballarat is more hilly than you'd think walking around the area is still easy.

I would have liked to have walked in the downtown area but I didn't know how to pay for parking. The main purpose of being in Ballarat was to visit Sovereign Hill which we could have spent so much more time at. This was better than we had expected. Friendly staff, great performances and there was a feeling of going back to different times in history.

Ballarat is a historical gem, it reeks of history everywhere you go and is easy to get around. The restaurants, cafes, pubs and people we met were all great. We have been several times now and we will go back as the region has plenty to offer . If you go in winter, rug up.

Lovely historic town. I came for the marathon this trip and only stayed the weekend. Have been before many years ago and was reminded what a terrific place Ballarat is. I'll be staying longer next time

I was in Ballarat for business and had a dinner engagement in the CBD so chose the hotel for its close proximity to the restaurant and the warm feel generated by its website. I was a little taken aback by the car park which was the only aspect of the property I had any concerns with. Some people arriving later in the evening may have found the car park a challenge in the dark. The reception was excellent and all of the facilities were first class. It is in the black book for a return visit.

The room was amazing, bed super comfortable and bathroom clean and large, the location close to many shops. I was unable to stay the full booking due to unforeseen events back in Mel and had to leave early, the hotel were very understanding and refunded the day I wouldn't be in Ballarat, they even posted a charger I left in the room back to me. Excellent Service! will recommend the hotel to others and stay when I go back to Ballarat.

I have to travel to Ballarat a lot for family reasons, and Sovereign Park is is one of the most reliable stays. Sometimes the rates are high, and often availability is low because it is so popular, but I always check here first because my stay is ALWAYS comfortable and easy, the rooms are always clean and well appointed, and there are never any disappointing surprises like a hard pillow, a stained blanket or sink or dirty window.

Firstly, being able to have our beloved dogs with us was awesome. We were opposite really great walks to take. Whole house with a garage was such a treat and lovely to have pet bowl was a lovely touch. It was a lovely quiet part of Ballarat. The comfort of the home was a tribute to all the very thoughtful things that made our stay wonderful (we like to cook).

Spacious, clean rooms. Nothing fancy, but a handy location. Plenty of car parking. Grateful to get a room on the ground floor (rather than having to carry luggage upstairs). Lovely couple/family running the hotel. Not the cheapest option, but the rooms are large, there is off street parking, airconditioning and very close to the lake and a supermarket.

The Ambassador exceeded all my expectations. Our hosts had turned the heater on in our room before we arrived on a freezing Saturday. Our room was the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in, it was great value for money AND the bed was comfy. I will be recommending the Ambassador for anyone staying in Ballarat from now on.
