Everything was absolutely perfect. Originally booked for 1 night but booked another, location is lovely had a beautiful walk on the foot path up the road seeing the sun go down and saw some deers and ducks. Also a 15 minute walk to Dedham town what we did also and was worth it as we went for a walk by the river and was greeted by some cows. The spa is my favourite was so relaxing lovely heated pool to the right temperature just get straight in and go for a nice swim, the jacuzzi is great too, I nearly fell asleep. Now the hotel and room itself is beautiful as we walked in was greeted and shown to our room, we stayed in Tennyson and it was breathtaking, very big space, big shower room which I loved and to top it off we had our own terrance balcony which was very spacious. The staff was lovely, made us feel comfortable and welcome and was there if anything was needed. I’d definitely be back. If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing break then I’d definitely consider the Toolbooth spa and hotel. They have restaurants that can do room service or they will take you down to the restaurant. We got breakfast to the room, tasty I’d recommend the yoghurt and blackberry pancakes.

The room was clean enough although dirty scatter cushions on the bed were a bit grotty

It is located in the middle in a beautiful village.
Everything was very newly done with thick carpets and fantastic quality carpentry everywhere. Food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful
There appeared to be Mouse Man stools by the bed - I felt a bit wrong putting my cup of tea on it!

The location is excellent, close to the Castle and some very good restaurants. Once you find your way into it down some narrow back-streets, parking is ample and secure. I was up-graded to an exceptionally comfortable mini-suite. The staff were uniformly helpful and polite.

Dedham is a very attractive small town with associations with Alfred Munnings and John Constable. The Church is an historic structure and worth a visit to also see the unusual gothic Constable painting. The town is full of attractive and historic buildings. The walk to Flatbury through the meadows is a must.

Dedham was lovely.
Dedham was lovely. We stayed at the end of one leg of the Essex Way walk. Hiring a boat on the river was great fun - and then a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. The Tiptree Jam shop is lovely for lunch - as is The Marlborough.

Beautiful town set in lovely open countryside.
Beautiful town set in lovely open countryside. We walked from Dedham to Flatford Mill and then to East Bergholt - about 8 miles return. Excellent paths, and clearly signposted. The church was well worth a visit with its stained glass windows. Visit the Art Centre for a huge range of gifts. All locals very friendly.

Generously sized rooms.
Generously sized rooms. Facilities good but no room service one day which wasn’t great when you return from a long day out.
The breakfast staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make things right. My yogurt, fruit and granola breakfast was superb!
The restaurant wasn’t open for dinner, but we found plenty of excellent pubs serving outstanding food only a short walk/drive away. The Sun Inn in Dedham was our favourite.
Plenty to do and see in the area so we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Dedham is a quaint little village with lovely walks in the heart of Constable country. There is an antiques market and some lovely cafes. The highlights were paddle boarding on the river and a fantastic dinner at the Sun Inn.
